Description
uniform hat, Sea Rangers; sailor hat; stiff, brimless white coated textile hat. Black ribbon tally around base with text reading: “SEA RANGERS” with GG trefoil logo. Black twill chin strap. Green and red textile strips sewn into cap interior, possibly to indicate starboard and port sides. Blue textile sweatband and blue plastic lining. "MADE IN ENGLAND". Masking tape label inside hat lining with text in blue ink reading: "KATHY HARDY / C-6-157-001-8". Liquid staining on top of hat.
Object History
Ranger uniform (1960's) belonging to Kathy Hardy Raadsheer. She was an active Brownie, Girl Guide and Sea Ranger. Worn with white blouse, red maple leaf tie/scarf, macrame lanyard, hat (sea ranger-white or land ranger-navy), navy skirt or pants.

booklet; "THE RANGER STAR / Vol. 1 JUNE, 1924 No. 2"; booklet of written submissions on topics of interest to Rangers, such as music, camping and first aid; "published quarterly at West Burnaby, B.C."; pale green thin card cover with illustration of girl looking up at a star; "D. Pitman" handwritten in blue ink on page one.
Object History
The Ranger Star was available be subscription and was published quarterly in West Burnaby B.C. Editor of quarterly was Joy Mennie and Associate editor, Bessie Carter. This volume belonged to Dorothy Pitman who was a Girl Guide in the 1st Burnaby Company. She was known to be involved with guiding from 1919 to 1931. Textual records and photographs of the Pitman family, including one of Dorothy and her sister Gwen, are held by the City of Burnaby Archives. Dorothy and Gwen's parents, Ernest and Jean Pitman, owned McKay Dry Goods and Jubilee Dry Goods.

A Canadian Boat Song, Farewell to Nova Scotia, From Island to Island / 3. If You Should Meet an Elephant, My Aunt Grete, First Tulip, Where We Children Live Today, My Pigeon House" "SIDE 2 / 1. camp blanket or cape; blue wool “camp” cape (four pieces sewn together with front opening and hood; two tie fasteners for front opening; snaps to secure side openings); covered in camp & travel related Guiding patches from the 1970’s & 1980’s and some lapel pins.
Object History
Camp blanket that was worn at camp and belonged Vivian (Vie) Henderson (1923 - 2007). Mrs. Henderson was the second Burnaby Royal Area Commissioner, from 1974 to 1979. She had previously been a Brown Owl, Guide and Ranger leader, as well as a District and Division Commissioner. She was married to Phil Henderson, noted Burnaby community volunteer.
