Hat badge worn at the front peak of service cap. Made of bronze-coloured metal. Buffalo head emblem of the force is centre of badge with "Royal Canadian Mounted Police" around it. "MAINTIENS LE DROIT" is in the ribbon at the bottom of the badge. Two posts with loops are soldered to the reverse. A cotter pin passes through the loops and secures the badge to the hat. Note that "CANADA" doesn't appear below crown as it does on badges BV001.25.68 and .69.

Object History
Object originated with the Burnaby Lawn Bowling Club. The "Frank Bowser" presenting the trophy was Kerrisdale resident Francis "Frank" Bowser. He was a member of the Kerrisdale Lawn Bowling Club, ca. 1918, and was elected President of the Lower Mainland Lawn Bowling Association in 1919. The Bowser trophy was awarded to the winner of a competition between the various Lower Mainland bowling clubs. Each team entering had to be skippered by the president of that club. The winning team for the 1923 cup was from the Central Park Club in Burnaby (The Vancouver Sun - 16 Dec 1923). Francis "Frank" Bowser (1857-1929) came to Vancouver around 1885 and went to work with Dominion Customs, retiring in 1908 as chief landing waiter. He was elected reeve of Point Grey in 1912 and served two terms in office. His brother was former B.C. premier W.J. Bowser. (see Obituary in The Vancouver Sun - 26 Sep 1929).

Embossed cup shaped trophy with handles on either side, mounted on a round, 15.3 cm diameter, wooden base. The overall height ofthe cup is 37.5 cm and overall width is 24.5 cm. This cup has been worked by hammering the surface designs from the inside rather than applying cast decoration. There are silver halmarks stamped on the underside of the cup inicating that the maker was Thamas Bradbury & Sons Ltd Company (1905 to 1943). On the front "PRESENTED TO/ BURNABY LAWN BOWLING CLUB/ BY/ A.E.S.WOOD/ 1923
Object History
Object originated with the Burnaby Lawn Bowling Club. The "A.E.S. Wood" presenting the trophy was Burnaby resident A.E.S. "Stan" Wood. The first lawn bowling green in Burnaby, located at Victory Street and Gray Avenue, was on his property.

Object originated with the Burnaby Lawn Bowling Club. History of object is unconfirmed, but the "E. Pitman" presenting the trophy may be Burnaby resident Ernest Pitman, owner of the McKay Dry Goods and Jubilee Dry Goods stores. "Mrs. E. Pitman" won the trophy several times. She was likely Ernest's wife, Jean Pitman. 1939 winner Mrs. G. Jeffery was likely Harriet (Philpot) Jeffery, wife of George Jeffery. 1947 winner Mrs. S. Swan was likely Constance "Connie" (Bates) Swan, wife of Sydney Swan. Sydney was the brother of Alice Digney. Film footage of the Swans' and Digney's can be seen in accession BV019.18.

Medal, silver-coloured; Queen Victoria Jubilee 1897; front -design of Queen Victoria showing head, shoulders and two laurel sprigs; centre - coat-of-arms, surrounded by 5 circles, each with symbol at centre; hangs from decorative brass bar with blue grosgrain ribbon connecting it to similar bar at top; partial fastener on back; ribbon is hand-sewn on to the brass bars.
Object History
Part of a donation pertaining to Frederick Homer Cassels, a WWI Veterinary service army veteran.
Frederick Homer Cassels was born June 25th 1870 or 1872 in Paisley, Ontario. He moved to BC in 1914 and settled in Vancouver. Cassels was a veterinary surgeon in the 103rd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I.
Prior to that, Cassels worked in Washington State. He married Emily Frances McMullen in England in 1919. They came back to Canada and settled in Burnaby the same year.
He later worked as a marble worker, sticker and polisher at Continental Marble Works until 1932. The family settled in Burnaby's "Skunk Hollow" area, an area off Boundary Road at 13th Avenue and Clydesdale. Their children attended Schou St. School.
He passed away July 31 1948.

Distinguished Flying Cross: Silver cross, the vertical arms of the cross has the image of airplane propellers. The horizontal arms of the cross have wings. In the centre of the cross is a circle with a crown on top and "RAF" in the centre. The reverse has the Royal Cypher in the centre "GVI" and 1918. Engraved at the bottom of the cross is 1945. The ribbon is white and purple stripes on the diagonal.
1939-1945 Star: Six pointed star, the obverse has a design of the Royal and Imperial cypher below a crown. The cypher is surrounded by the text "The 1939 - 1945 Star". The ribbon consists of three equal stripes of light blue, red, and dark blue

Canadian Volunteer Service Medal: Circular silver medal, The obverse shows seven marching figures representing the men and women of the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Nursing service. Around the edge of the medal is the text "1939 CANADA 1945 VOLUNTARY SERVICE VOLONTAIRE". The reverse of the medal shows the Canadian coat of arms. This side is tarnished or scuffed. The ribbon has a stripe of royal blue in the centre flanked by two equal stripes of scarlet and dark green.
War Medal 1939-1945: Circular silver medal, the obverse shows a crown profile of King George VI, facing left. Text circling the profile is "GEORGIVS VI D : BR : OMN : REX ET INDIAE IMP:". 100th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada: Circular silver medal, the obverse has Queen Elizabeth II's royal cypher on top of a maple leaf.
