Most girls are wearing shirts with skirts, with cardigans over the top, and some in dresses. Most of the boys are wearing plaid or checkered patterend shirts. Two boys seated in the front row are holding up a chalk board sign with the class and school information written on it, along with the year and the name "Layton" in brackets (the photographer). Annotations on the back of the photo read: "Lorraine" and "Grade 4 / Mrs. M. Pontoni (Teacher)."
