Description: The Jesse and Martha Love Farmhouse - Leaflet -- [1998]. Information leaflet for the opening of the Jesse and Martha Love farmhouse. The front of the leaflet has a sepia toned photograph of Jesse Love standing in front of the garden, Martha Love and one of their daughters standing on the porch of the house. Inside, there is a picture of the reproduced wallpaper and information regarding the house. On the back of the leaflet is the City of Burnaby logo for Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. The leaflet measures 18cm x 13.5cm.

Object History: This artifact was used at the official opening of the Love Farmhouse exhibit, November 29, 1998; for distribution.

Description: The core of the Jessie Love farm house is a 1893 two story, pioneer tent style building. The home was added to over the years and became a large Craftsmen style farm house.

Object History: Built on Cumberland Road in Burnaby in 1893. Music Room/Parlour/Living Room and bedrooms above added c.1898. Kitchen added c.1908. The home of Jesse and Martha Love and their eleven children. One of Burnaby's oldest structures. The home was moved to Burnaby Village Museum in the late 1980s and has been partially restored to its 1920s appearance.

Description: Brackman-Ker Milling Co - Envelope -- [1901?]. Envelope addressed in ink to "Mr. J. Love" in "City". The envelope was sent by Brackman-Ker Milling Company, Manufacturers and Dealers in Flour, Grain, Meals, Etc on Front Street, New Westminster. There is a green stamp on the top right corner of King Edward VII and a post mark stamp just below "NEW --/ FE 4/ 01/ B.C.". Handwritten in pencil on the reverse side is "Your Father Wants to see you here, J.L.". The envelope measures 14.5cm x 8.5cm.

Object History: object was found in the Jesse Love farmhouse when moved to the Museum.

Elsie Hughes is the daughter of William and Sarah Parker and granddaughter of Jesse and Martha Love. Elsie married John Malcolm Hughes at St. Alban's Church in Burnaby on April 9, 1942. Elsie and Jim discuss the furnishings, decoration and amenities of the house at the time she moved into it in 1925 with her family. Elsie’s recollections were to be used as a resource for redecorating and refurnishing the house as it was in 1925 for its use as an exhibit at the Burnaby Village Museum. An unidentified man is also present, and sometimes contributes to the conversation.
