March 31, 1925, "volunteers were relied on to man
the fire hoses and eventually it was hoped a bell or tri-
angle would sound to summon male residents to lend
assistance." Some of the early volunteers included
William Banks, Arnold Jones, Fraser George and
Basil Honour.
