- English Name: Sulphur Chinese Pinyin Name: Liuhuang (ShiLiuHuang) Physical Description: lumps of yellow crystal in varying sizes and shapes; each piece has smoother and rougher areas with the rougher areas having a whitish appearance Production Regions: Primarily produced in Mount Muyang, Donghai, Mount Taishan and Mount Hexi, Yiyang, Mount Qishan, Linyi, and Kunlun and Persia, Yazhou, Mount Qiemi, Mount Liuqiu, Huangnan Functions: Treats phlegmons, hemorrhoids and bleeding. It strengthens tendons, bones and muscle, and heals baldness. It treats the epigastrium and abdomen, and reduces gas. It treats coughing. Good for the feet. It stops epistaxis, treats sores, and ulcers of the female external genitals. Good for the lumbar region and kidney. Treats scabies and kills parasites. For male sexuality, and consumpton. - Object History
- Collection of original raw contents of the Chinese Herbalist Shop, Way Sang Yuen Wat Kee, Victoria BC, as purchased from Rodney Pain in 1974. Sulfur is a mineral drug that is traditionally used to treat medical conditions on the skin. Sulphur was ground into a powder and then was either used in pills or turned into a balm to rub on your skin.

- Mary Davis and her mother Edith Finney walking hand and hand down a busy commercial street.
- History
- Mary Davis was born February 3, 1910 in Stafford, England to Sam and Edith Finney and came to Canada as a child. Her family settled in Saskatchewan. She married her first husband, Clifford Reynolds Hamilton in 1940 in Rossland BC and was subsequently divorced in 1949 in Vancouver BC. She moved to Burnaby somtime between 1940 and the mid-1950's. Mary owned Davis Confectionary with her second husband (presumably named Davis) at the corner of Beresford and MacPherson. The store acted as a grocery store and also a drug store. Mary and her husband owned the store in the 1950's /1960's. Mary passed away in 2001, and had no children. Photograph was taken by famous Vancouver street photographer Foncie Pulice. Foncie began working as a street photographer in 1934 and retired in 1979. Foncie died in 2003.
