Item consists of an air mail letter written by Colin Rhodes Fox of the Royal Canadian Artillery Service to his aunt Marianne "May" Bateman while serving overseas during World War II. Colin Fox served in the 13th Canadian Field Regiment, 44th Canadian Field Battery. In his letter, Colin tells of how he's happy to be back with his regiment after finishing his stay in hospital; thanks May for the chocolates that she sent and how he expects to receive his third stripe which means a raise on top of his Sergeant's pay.

In his letter Colin thanks May for the Christmas parcel she sent; how he received a backlog of letters addressed to him at the convalescent hospital; how the boys that landed on D-Day are taking leave in England; describes a Christmas party that his regiment put on for twenty kids in a nearby town and says that he looks forward to a good Christmas dinner provided there isn't any unexpected action.

Item consists of a handwritten air mail letter from Sergeant Colin Rhodes Fox of the Royal Canadian Artillery Service to his aunt Marianne "May" Bateman while serving overseas during World War II. Colin Fox served in the 13th Canadian Field Regiment with the 44th and 78th Canadian Field Battery. In his letter, Colin tells of how he may not returnn home until October and explains the process by which they're being released; he tells that he was in hospital due to injuries to his feet which were exasperated after attending a dance and how he learned of his father's recent accident.

Item consists of an air mail letter written by Sergeant Colin Rhodes Fox of the Royal Canadian Artillery Service to his aunt Marianne "May" Bateman while serving overseas during World War II. Colin Fox served in the 13th Canadian Field Regiment, 44th Canadian Field Battery. In his letter, Colin reflects on Christmas dinner and how he celebrated New Years Eve. He also tells of how they put on a party for two hundred and fifty kids in town. The men in service made a bunch of toys and saved candy and chocolate bars from their parcels to gift to the children and one of them handed them out while dressed as Santa Clause. He tells of how he's going on leave again this month and thanks his aunt for gifts that she sent.

Colin tells of how he's received many letters since being in hospital; of how he is healing from his wounds and how he and other wounded soldiers listen to radio shows while convalescing.

Colin thanks May for her letters; tells of how he's been convalescing in bed for twenty days with damage to one of his lungs and how he and others in the ward have been listening to radio shows on a Red Cross radio.

Description
Brackman-Ker Milling Co - Envelope -- [1901?]. Envelope addressed in ink to "Mr. J. Love" in "City". The envelope was sent by Brackman-Ker Milling Company, Manufacturers and Dealers in Flour, Grain, Meals, Etc on Front Street, New Westminster. There is a green stamp on the top right corner of King Edward VII and a post mark stamp just below "NEW --/ FE 4/ 01/ B.C.". Handwritten in pencil on the reverse side is "Your Father Wants to see you here, J.L.". The envelope measures 14.5cm x 8.5cm.
Object History
object was found in the Jesse Love farmhouse when moved to the Museum.

Wagner Bumper & Spring Works - Envelope. Business envelope for Wagner Bumper and Spring Works at 4236 Kingsway, New Westminster, B.C. The envelope measures 16.5cm x 9cm.
Object History
Mr. Wagner patented his Triple Spring Bumper for automobiles and attempted to interest one of the major automobile manufacturers in purchasing his patent. He manufactured some bumpers and sold them locally.
