- Dress, c.1925-1929. Cream and copper rayon. Straight cut, sleeveless, V neck with small ruffle, drop waist with celluloid buttons, slightly flared knee length skirt. The back and front upper bodice is cream coloured with copper trim, while the lower bodice and skirt are copper with cream trim. The V neckline is trimmed with a band of copper, and a small ruffle is stitched to either side of the V point. The bodice has no shaping, but the section from the natural waistline to the dropped waist is made of the copper fabric. On the centre front from the top of the copper section of the bodice, there is a band of cream trim that curves around to either side seam at the dropped waist. The dropped waistline continues in the back as a seam without trim. Along the right side of the vertical centre front trim, there are three round celluloid buttons with faux ivory inside a gold coloured ring. The skirt section joins below the ivory trim with three gores at the front and one at the back. It is hemmed at knee length.

- Dress, c.1925-1929. Brown silk crepe. Long sleeves, large ruffle along bodice, pin tucks beneath a dropped waist, and pleated knee length skirt. At the point of the V neck there is a black and bronze coloured metal brooch with seven white/clear rhinestones. Along the right side of the V neck there is a large pleated ruffle: it continues down the diagonal line to the waistline, ending in a bow. The sleeves have a small pleat at the elbow. The cuffs close with snaps. The bodice has a slight pouf at the dropped waistline. Below that there is a slightly lighter panel that ends a few inches later with a diagonal line that travels from the left side down to the right. The bottom half of this panel is covered in tiny pin tucks on the front that follow the lower diagonal line. The skirt is attached to this lighter band, and covered in small pleats in the front. Its knee length hem is a small double fold in front and a larger 6 cm hem in the back. Under the bodice front there is a cream-coloured cotton underlining sewn into the shoulder and waist seams, to allow it to puff out at the waist. On the right sleeve cuff there is a tag that reads, "Decklebaum & Eisenberg / Montreal."

- Dress, c.1925-1929. Light brown rayon crepe. Straight cut, long sleeved, V neck with bow, waist ties, panel with embroidered false pocket, knee length half pleated skirt. There is a "v" panel of blue crepe inserted into the V neck as an accent, two inches in from the neck edge. At the point of the V there are two brown sashes tied in a square knot. The bodice puffs out slightly at the dropped waist. The bodice front is underlined cotton muslin attached at the shoulders and waist, which allows it to puff out slightly. The sleeves have two small pleats at the elbow. They end in a placket and cuff, and close with a snap at the cuff base. Long ties to tie in the back are sewn into the waist side seams. Hanging from the waist front is a slightly flared panel that scoops up from the right side to the left. On the larger section on the right side there is a faux pocket tacked on, embroidered in white, blue, and gold floss. Under the hanging panel, there is another band on the front that mimics its shape in the dress itself. The skirt hangs from the under panel with small box pleats covering the right side front. The back of the dress is entirely un-shaped. There is a tag on the left sleeve cuff that reads, "Cloth", "647", "Size 16..."; "22.00"; "Deckelbaum & Eisenberg, Montreal."

- Dress, c.1925-1929. Navy blue rayon. Straight cut, circular collar with bow and brooch, long sleeves, blouse bodice, waist ties, pin tucks and two-tiered flounce at knee length skirt. The rounded collar is edged with royal blue and trimmed with two layers of a faux bow, each navy one side and royal blue on the other. The bow is held on by a metal rhinestone brooch. The sleeves have two small pleats at the elbow, and end in a placket and cuff with a snap. The bodice puffs out slightly at the dropped waist, and there is a waist tie sewn into each side seam. Besides the ties, the whole back of the dress is straight and unadorned. Below the low waistline, on the front, there is a band of narrow horizontal tucks. There are two levels of flounces below the band lined with cotton under the top flounce. On the lower half of the lining, there is a black strip that extends as a long tab on the inner right side of the skirt, and as a short tab on the inner left. Three "male" snap ends are sewn on to the end of the long tab. The paper label sewn into the left cuff "Size 18 / Deckelbaum & Eisenberg, Montreal."

- Dress, c.1920s. Navy blue wool serge. Straight cut outer wear, no waistline. Long-sleeved, V neck with collar, small pockets, flounce decoration with buttons at centre front. Calf length. This dress was probably meant for cooler weather, since it is made of warm material. The V neck has a collar that comes to a small point at each shoulder, and extends into small revers. Directly below the collar at centre front there are six plastic navy buttons, without any buttonholes. On each side of the buttons there is a navy silk crepe flounce edged with royal blue crochet lace. On each side front below the waist there is a small welt pocket. Slightly above this, waist ties are sewn to the outside of the side seams. Besides the addition of sleeves, there is no shaping in the garment. The sleeves are plain except for a cuff with a small placket opening, secured by two snaps. Stapled under the left side of the collar is a price tag with "7.50" handwritten on it, and "Kimball USA" printed.

- Dress,c. 1925-1929. Pale yellow and silk crepe. False ecru silk undershirt, long sleeves, button and tuck waist decoration, waist ties, pleated knee length skirt. The 'undershirt' collar is a V neck decorated with three green plastic buttons on each end. On top of this, the yellow V neck extends to the waist. It has a collar as well as revers that end at the waist. The sleeves have two small pleats at the elbow. They end in a placket and cuff with a snap closure. Yellow straps hang down from in between the two collars, attached to the undershirt. The undershirt is attached to the dress itself, extending to the waistline. The overshirt layer joins the undershirt at the shoulder, over the armhole, and at the side seams. At the waist there are ties sewn into the side seams. On the front, two vertical rows of five buttons (without button holes) sit on a section extended from the right rever through a waistband decorated in horizontal rows of tiny pin tucks. Attached to the front undershirt section is the skirt covered in narrow pleats. The entire back of the dress is cut in one piece without decorations besides the waist ties. Attached to the right sleeve cuff is a paper label that reads: "514 / Size 38" "Deckelbaum & Eisenberg, Montreal."

- Dress, c.1925-1929. Forest green crepe with beige silk gauze. Straight cut, long sleeves, beige jabot, waist ties, pocket with beige flaps, pleated knee length skirt. The V neck has a beige silk gauze jabot hanging from it, tacked together at four places to maintain its drape. At the back there is a bow attached to the jabot. The sleeves have a small pleat at the elbow. At their ends they have chiffon cuffs which also extend into ties that are tied together in a square knot. At the dropped waist, there are ties sewn into side seams to tie in the back. Right beneath the ties there is a rounded patch pocket on the right front with a gauze triangle flap. At the centre front of the skirt, there is an upside-down chevron shaped insert with an inverted box pleat in the centre and one on each side. The basting threads holding the pleats together at the bottom are still present. The skirt extends to knee length. On the back, there is no decoration or shaping. The seams are french. A price tag hangs from the right cuff with "$12.00" handwritten on it.

The collar of this dress extends down the left side as a hanging panel. On the right, there is a square rever in pale orange with blue, teal, and red dots. It crosses over to meet the left side of the opening, but is left open to drape in half of a V neck shape. The dotted panel attaches to the left side front at the waist, where it is edged with a row of five clear plastic buttons. Under the front opening, the false undershirt in the dotted fabric has a rounded neckline. It extends to the waistline, but it is replaced on each side front with white cotton. On the 'main' shirt there is a false pocket opening on the right front. The sleeves have a small pleat at the elbow, and a cuff with a placket opening that closes with a snap. At the dropped waist there are ties sewn into side seams. The skirt front is covered in small pleats. The entire back is straight cut, without decoration. The seams are finished with a serger. At the right sleeve cuff, there is the remains of a paper tag. There is also a price tag on the right rever that has "C 13 g / $11.00" handwritten on it.

- Dress, c.1920-1925. Brown crepe with false ivory taffeta undershirt and scarf. Long sleeves, pleated fringe, celluloid buttons, slightly flared calf length skirt. The dress has a low rounded V neck with a collar that extends around the bottom with a pleated edge sewn on. Underneath the collar there is a panel of ivory fabric with two sashes that hang to the waist, tied at the bottom of the V neck. The panel is tacked on underneath the neckline. The sleeves have two small pleats at the sleeves. The ends are finished with a bias binding and placket, closed by snap fasteners. At the waistline there is a wide band that extends around the front and back of the dress. On the front left there are two vertical pleated scalloped bands on the left. To the left of each scallop is a gold and silver coloured celluloid button with a basket weave pattern on it. Beneath the band at the waist there is a slightly flared skirt. It opens on the left front side, under lapped by itself from the other side and tacked in place. The skirt ends at calf length, finished with a small double fold hem. On the right sleeve cuff, there is a label that reads: `Style', `Cloth', `11763', `Size...42', `Operator... CGG', `Remarks', `89', `Finisher...26', `E'; "Deckelbaum Inc. Montreal." The seams are left unfinished.

There are two narrow tucks on each front shoulder, and two vertical rows of machine stitching on the bodice front left near the waist. The bodice front puffs out a bit at the dropped waist, held up by the cotton underlining attached at the shoulders and waist. The long sleeves have two small pleats at the elbow. The cuffs have plackets that close with snaps. At the waist there are ties sewn into the side seams, to be tied at the back. Beneath this on the front is a band with tiny horizontal pin tucks, on top of which sits a bow on the left side. The skirt hangs beneath this band with a cotton lining, which two tiers of pleated orange skirts are attached to. They have pointed V ends, finished with machine zig-zag stitches. They extend to knee length. On the right sleeve cuff there is a paper label that reads: `Order No.', `Cloth', `Style...CGG', `Operator...18', `Remarks...10.00', `Finisher...25'; "Deckelbaum & Eisenberg, Montreal."

- Dress, c.1925-1929. Orange silk crepe. Straight cut. Scoop neck with tie and buckle on bodice, false cardigan with pearl button pockets, long sleeved, knee length pleated skirt. Below the low scoop neck hangs a sash with a decorative mother of pearl buckle. On each side front there is a panel joined at the shoulders, side seams, and over the sleeves to create the look of a cardigan. There is a pocket each side, both with two bands in a T shape and four oblong pearl buttons down the vertical band. Under each side panel and on the main dress bodice there is a small dart at bust level. The sleeves have some slight gathers at the elbow. A few centimetres above the end of the sleeve there is a tuck. The sleeve ends are self bound; they open to the tuck and close with snaps. The seams are finished by a serger. The back of the dress is straight cut without shaping or adornment except for a dropped waist band that hangs in the back, sewn into the side seams. In front, the bodice and skirt join at a curved point at centre front. The skirt has narrow pleats separated by sections without pleating.

The neckline is round; to the right, four narrow vertical pin tucks extend from the shoulder to the waistline, and to the right of that there is a green panel edged with a beige crepe stitched down the right side of the bodice. The sleeves are full length, with cuffs that close with a snap. At the dropped waist, there are straps that tie around the back, which is otherwise plain and unshaped. Below this there are two levels of skirt with tiny box pleats, lined with white cotton. The green panel is edged in beige and hangs down to the end of the top skirt. Its corner is tacked to this skirt. On the left sleeve cuff, there is a label that reads, `Size 38', `11.00', `5' "Deckelbaum & Eisenberg."

- Dress, c.1930s. Light blue cotton with rayon rick-rack trim and celluloid buttons. The button-front bodice is fitted with darts, and the skirt is knee length. The close collar is edged with purple rayon rick-rack ribbon. The centre front opens with three white octagonal celluloid buttons, and it is shaped with darts: two on each side panel front and back, and one on each shoulder front and back. There is also an inverted box pleat inserted into the centre back, closed at its top and bottom, for ease. At the end of each short sleeve there is the same purple trim as on the collar. The centre front opening continues through the natural waistline, with two hidden circular white celluloid buttons. There is a front and back slightly flared panel to the skirt, plus two godets on either side of each side seam. The trim and the rest of the garment is machine sewn, with flat felled seams.

- Dress, c.1940s. Floral cotton print with faced collar in neckline, gathered skirt, short sleeves, calf length hem. Hand made by donor's grandmother. The dress is made with a pink, blue, purple and green floral print in the 1940s style. The collar is sewn with a facing out of a split down the centre front. The shoulders are gathered at the front, and the double fold hem for the short sleeves are hand finished. The bodice slants slightly inward towards the natural waistline; other than that, there is no shaping for this easy fitting dress. The skirt has eight gores, each somewhat flared. It is gathered quite a bit in the centre front gore, and slightly at centre back. The hem extends to the calves; it is hand finished. All of the seams are unfinished and all machine sewn.

- Dress, c.1940s. Cotton, blue pinstripes on white background. White panels up sides of flared calf length skirt, pockets, v-neck with collar, buttons centre front. The collar is on top of a square yoke that extends around the shoulders. It also has revers that extend from the turn of the bodice fabric. This creates a V neck in the 1940s style. White plastic buttons close the dress down centre front. Three pleats open up from the waist on each side front, and two on each side back. The sleeves extend up from the bottom in a kimono cut, and are constructed on the top half as set-in sleeves. The two types join in the middle, and are finished with a small cuff. The skirt has ten slightly flared gores, set into the waistband with small pleats. The side gores are made of white cotton. Down centre front, the opening continues over the hips with more buttons. On each side at hip level, there is a square patch pocket cut on the bodice. Inside the back of the neck, there is a cotton tag that has embroidered in green: "This is a Colleen Brawn Reg'n Garment / Made in Canada / 5994 34."

- Dress, c.1920. Purple silk satin with lace applique on sleeves. High collar with bow, buttons centre front, slightly flared ankle length skirt. Bias side panels on skirt. This dress seems characteristic of an item that would appeal to its particular owner. Born in 1880, she is following 1920s trends somewhat with the straight cut and bias skirt inserts, but also staying true to the fashion of her youth that she is comfortable with: a high collar, longer skirt, scarf, and lace applique are all borrowed from her time in the belle epoque. Extending from the stand collar are two long ties that could be tied into a bow or square knot. Directly under this at centre front is the opening with thirteen self fabric covered buttons. There is a bust dart on each side front, and a welt pocket on each side front just above the hips. At a dropped waist, there is a somewhat flared gore on each side of the skirt that extends from side front to back. The skirt extends to just above the ankles, with a small double fold hem. Inside, the dress is unlined; its seams are finished with a whip stitch. The garment was likely made by its owner.

- Dress, c.1914-1918. White cotton pique. Calf length, three quarter length sleeves, buttons down centre front and up to neckline, waistband and cuffs. The tight collar is edged with a scalloped trim; the right side of the collar extends diagonally to the right, making a slight V neck, and turns down the centre front. The trim follows the line to the waistband. At each shoulder just before the sleeve, there is a pleat that opens up. On the front at the waistband, there is some gathering in the waistband, and some small pleats at centre back. On the bodice front right, there is a small pocket that ends in a triangle shape and is topped with scalloped edging. The sleeves are plain set-in, with fairly wide cuffs that turn up and are left open at the side. Down the whole centre front there is an opening. Each side has holes, but no buttons remain: on the right, regular button holes and on the left, small bound holes. The waistband is a two inch strip. Attached is the skirt in six slightly flared gores.

- Description
- Dress, c.1910-1913. Cotton lawn print in floral and checkered, with chiffon yoke, lace, and mauve satin silk waistband. Long tiered skirt, long sleeves, round neckline. The cotton lawn fabric has a white background with vertical stripes of black and white checkers; purple flowers with green stems intertwine around the vertical checkers. The neckline rounds into a slight V shape with a yoke of ivory chiffon on top of lace, which extends to the waistband. On the front and back right and left side of the bodice, there is a tab extending over the waistband from the bodice fabric, edged in lace. The bottom of the bodice is gathered to add some volume. The bodice is also open around the shoulders, edged with lace. There is a section of the main fabric underneath that connects to the lining. The sleeves are full length, with some volume. The cuff begins halfway down the forearm with a gathered lace ruffle. The cuff section is narrower, and ends with three snaps at the wrist and another lace ruffle. At the waist, there is a gathered mauve satin silk waistband, tacked on to the dress. The skirt is attached underneath in two tiers. The overskirt, attached to the bodice, has two somewhat flared gores and one godet on the right side seam from just above the knee to the calf. It also ends at the calf, and just above the hem there is a tiny band of drawn thread work embroidery. The bottom tier is attached to the skirt lining under the top hem; it is made up of four gores, all gathered. The lining to the dress is done in ivory china silk, and it extends into the sleeves. In the bodice lining, there are four bones to hold its shape: on in the centre front and back, and one on each side. There are six panels in the back and four in the front, all finished with flat felled seams. The centre front closes with hook and eyes, and the waistband is secured on top with snaps and a hook and eye; the left bodice tab is secured to the waistband with two snaps. The skirt lining is also china silk, closing down the left side front with snaps. The skirt also has a left side opening that closes with snaps. In each underarm there is a dress shield to protect the dress from perspiration. They each read: "Style 100 Trade Mark OMO. E. Y. 2. Odorless. No Rubber. Soak in cold soap suds, using good soap, scrub with a stiff brush, and rinse in clear cold water, shape carefully while wet, and dry thoroughly. Do not iron."

- Object was inherited by the donor ca. 1974. She was given it by her mother, who had inherited it from her own mother, Elizabeth (Babb) Heaney.

- Dress, c.1930s. Orange velvet with clear rhinestones and beads. Sleeveless with double shoulder straps, high waist with sash, long bias cut skirt that flares out to the bottom. The dress has two sets of shoulder straps, both studded with white clear rhinestones and clear beading in oval designs. The straps are attached together at the front; the top straps attach to a the top corners of the back bodice panel, and the bottom straps attach to the back of the underarms. The bodice is lined with orange chiffon. At the high waist, there is a self fabric belt that is tacked on at the front and hangs in the back. It closes on the left side with snaps, and there is a bow over the closure. The bodice and skirt also close here at the left seam, with snaps on the skirt and hooks and eyes on the bodice. The skirt attaches under the belt. It is cut on the bias, and flares out towards the bottom. The skirt ends at floor length with a hand rolled hem. There is also a separate self fabric bow with the dress, that is not attached. There was a brown paper tag attached to the dress that reads "W Co / 1368." It is in the accession file.
