- Evening dress, c.1912. Cream silk charmeuse with beaded lace overlay. High waist, directoire style. Half length sleeves, floor length skirt, rosettes on lower back of skirt. The dress has a round neckline edged with a finer lace, and a bodice that is entirely covered in a layer of lace. On the lace there are abstract beaded patterns. Hanging from the right shoulder across to the centre front, there is a panel of finer lace. The main lace extends to halfway down the sleeve, and on the second half it is covered in the fine lace. At the high waistline, the lace hangs in two split pieces that overlap at the centre front. The silk layer of the skirt is made in a front and back panel. The hem goes up to calf level, and the hem stitching is attached to a row of beading on the front of the skirt. At the centre back, at calf level, the two halves of the lace are held up together in a ball with wired rosettes. The lace closes at the centre back with hooks and eyes to cover the closure in the main fabric. The silk layer closes up the the neckline at the centre back with hooks and eyes.

- Tea dress, c.1908-1910. Cream machine valenciennes lace with diamond floral pattern. Half length kimono sleeves, round neck; long skirt. Slight pouter pigeon front. The neckline is high and round, edged with some lace. The bodice slopes inwards towards the waist, where it is gathered slightly. There is a seam that goes from under each arm to the waist to set the sleeves behind the slight pouter pigeon front. They have a kimono cut at the top. The bodice is lined with cotton lawn, which has two pleats on the front where it attaches to the waistband. There is no band at the waist, but its seam is bound by the same lawn lining fabric. The skirt is attached to the waistband in four gores that flare out somewhat. The closure runs from the neckline to just below the hips, at centre back. Hooks and eyes are used.

- Bodice and skirt, c.1900. Brown cotton, black lace trim. High collar, low curved yoke, pouter pigeon front. Skirt has two bands and lace at the bottom, flounced in back. The high stand collar is covered in black lace, which extends in a wide curved yoke on the bodice. Beneath that there is a flounced band that splits at centre front and back, with a lace trimmed bow at centre front. The main bodice section has gathering at the centre front beneath the yoke and along the bottom, creating a puffed pouter pigeon front as the bottom front dips down as well. The back lies flat with pin tucks that fan out from the centre bottom. The sleeves have pin tucks coming from the shoulder on the outside edge, that end at the forearms. They are gathered to the cuffs as bishop sleeves. The lace trimmed cuffs have placket openings, and close with a hook and eye. The skirt has five gores extending from a small waistband, with two darts for shaping. At calf level, there is a band of black lace trim over two tiers of the skirt fabric, the bottom of which extends to the hem. They are flounced at the centre back. Under the bottom of the hem there is a band of black braided cord with a frayed bottom that protects and adds shape to the hem. Inside, the skirt is lined with black cotton. It closes with hooks and eyes at the centre back. The bodice is lined with brown cotton, and has nine bones. The lining closes separately with hooks and eyes at the centre front, and the main fabric of the bodice closes with hooks and eyes at the left seam and shoulder, and centre back of the collar.

- wedding dress, c.1902-1908. White china silk. Pouter pigeon bodice with half length sleeves and cumberbund. Skirt is shirred at waist and flares out at lower half. This Edwardian wedding dress is made almost entirely of china silk. Usually a lining fabric, the Edwardians often used it for special occasions such as weddings to achieve a floating, puffed up silhouette without any bulk at the waist. The bodice has three layers of ruffles at the high round neckline. The bodice front has two layers to hide its hook and eye closures. The back of the bodice has two panels four pin tucks for shaping. At the shoulders, there are rows of shirring that continue into the sleeve. The sleeves are gathered again into a cuff at their ends. The cumberbund is shirred at each end, as well as in the centre with three rows of shirring. There are three stays at the centre and one at each end; it closes with hooks and eyes which are covered by bows. The skirt has multiple rows of shirring at the waist. It has three gores, including one at the centre front that extends from the waistband without any shirring. There are two godets at the back seam and one at each of the side seams that begin at hip level and continue until about calf level. Then there is a new band of silk shirred onto the skirt, with three horizontal tucks at the bottom; the last tuck forms the hem. It is self lined under the bottom shirred section, with an un-gathered lining.

- Dress, c.1913-1914. Cream china silk skirt, silk chiffon sleeves, white cotton lawn bodice, ivory lace trim. High directoire waistline, long sleeves, full length skirt. The neckline is a boat neck, trimmed with a small band of ivory lace with an abstract design. The bodice of white lawn is unshaped except for a dart under each bust, and there is also a tuck near the waist. Each sleeve attaches onto the bodice side fronts, and the bodice is hemmed within. The chiffon sleeves extend in a kimono cut to a gathered wrist with a china silk cuff attached by chain stitch embroidery. It closes with two snaps. The china silk skirt attaches at a high waist. It has gathers all around except for the centre front. Just past the knee, it has three large tucks that go around the circumference of the skirt and a fourth that is actually a hem. The dress has snap closures up the centre back, from the neckline to just past the hips.

Centennial badge with the offical emblem of a stylized grouping of the three "C's" representing Canada, Confederation, Centennial, with the provincial floral emblem, the dogwood, in the centre; two plastic buttons in tortoise shell design as centre fasteners; jacket style with lapels and two waist level pockets. Straight style short skirt in brown fabric.
- Object History
- The jacket and skirt were issued to female members of Burnaby's 1971 Centennial Committee. It is believed that these pieces belonged to Mary D. Trainer, who was the Centennial Co-ordinator hired to help organize a variety of community events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of British Columbia's entry into Confederation. Burnaby's Centennial Committee was chaired by Mr. James Barrington. The committee organized a variety of community events, including the construction of a Heritage Village (now Burnaby Village Museum). Mrs. Trainer altered her skirt to be shorter than the standard issue skirt: shorter skirts were a more fashionable look for a young woman at the time.

- Bodice, c.1900. Black silk taffeta. Trimmed with velvet, net, sequins, beads, and embroidered applique. Leg o' mutton sleeves, high collar. Skirt: BV985.3515.1. The entire bodice is black, and the net seems to come pre-embroidered with sequins and beads. The high collar is covered with the embroidered net, and edged with velvet on the top. On the centre front of the bodice, there is a different net with strips of velvet that run horizontally at intervals. The lace is gathered at the neckline and at the waistline to create a puff at the bodice front. Hanging from each shoulder with the corner pointing to the elbow is a square of sequin and bead embroidered net, edged with a strip of velvet. Another strip of velvet attaches to that one with a faggoted stitch. The sleeves are set in at the armscye, but gradually come out to huge pleated puffs at the elbows. They then taper back to the wrists, where there is a small split. Here a flounce of net hangs, trimmed with a ruffle of black taffeta. On the outside of the cuffs, there is an applique of maple leaf embroidery. At the waist, which comes to a slight point at the centre front, there is a belt of three velvet strips. At the centre back, there are three triangle shaped formations of bead on a metal frame, one on each velvet strip. There are six of these at centre front (one on each side of the hook and eye closure) and there are two on each side, where the strips are gathered slightly on top of each other. Inside, the bodice is lined with brown, white, and green striped taffeta. There are fifteen feather bones on the sides and back. The bodice closes up the centre front with hooks and eyes, and the collar wraps around the back to close there with two hooks and eyes.

- Dress, c.1910. Black satin silk, ivory lace yoke. High collar, three quarter length sleeves, black lace, embroidery, and ruffle trim, floor length with an overskirt. The high lace collar has stays, and it continues into a yoke on the front and back. The centre front and back bodice beneath this have gathered panels, in a V shape on the back. Beneath this on the front, there are two rectangles joined by a faggoting stitch. On either side there are four round black velvet buttons, and on either side of that there is a black ruffle that extends over the shoulders to the back waist. Attached to the ruffle is a band of black lace, and on centre front below the rectangles there is a large appliquéd piece of black embroidered lace. The sleeves are fairly fitted. They are ruched and taper down to a slightly more fitted cuff, edged with gathered ribbon and a band of lace. The waist is at natural height, without any cinching. It is defined by a black ruffle on either side and a band of lace at the front and back. At centre back there is a black appliqué that is the same as the one on top of the waist at centre front. There are also three pin tucks at either side of the centre back, extending from the appliqué on the overskirt. At the centre front of the overskirt, there is a black ruffle that extends to its hem. At the hem, the ruffle curves down on either side front and angles into two square shapes at either side back. The underskirt has six gores; at calf level, the main dress fabric is attached. The bodice closes up the centre back with hooks and eyes. Beneath there is also a lining that closes separately with hooks and eyes at the centre back. It has seven featherbones encircling the top of the waist. The overskirt, underskirt, and waistband close separately with hooks and eyes at the back left.

- Woman's suit, c.1897-1902. White cotton with brown polka dots, in french serge. Open long sleeved jacket and long flared floor length skirt. The jacket neckline has a low collar, that extends into revers, in a V neck shape down to the waistline. It is edged in a lace ruffle, as are the cuffs on the long sleeves. The sleeves have some pleats at the cap to give them a leg o' mutton puff, and a small opening at the cuff seam. The bodice is formed with a panel for each side front and one piece for the back. There is a small section of a gathered drawstring at the centre back near the bottom. The skirt closes with three visible celluloid buttons at the centre back, and flares out at the bottom with five gores. The seams on the jacket and skirt are left unfinished where selvedges are not used.

- Mourning bodice, c.1884-1889. Black satin silk. High neck with collar, buttons down front, long sleeves with cuffs, basque bodice especially flared in the back. The bodice is entirely black, and unadorned except for the buttons and cuffs. The centre front closure has sixteen black jet buttons with a pattern cut into each. At the ends of the somewhat fitted sleeves there are four inch turned back cuffs. At the high neck, there is a mandarin collar. Inside, the bodice is lined with brown cotton. Five bones are evenly spaced along the six back panels and two front panels, with two darts each. The back section of the bodice below the waistline is flared out to fit over a bustle.

- From the estate of Norah Byrne, daughter of Peter Byrne and Priscilla Amelia Rowling Rowling. She later married William Descoteau. Norah Byrne was born in 1896 and based on the era of the dress, it's possible that the dress originally belonged to her mother, Priscilla Amelia Rowling Byrne.

- Evening dress, c.1930. Blue and pink shot acetate taffeta. Large puffed short sleeves, belt, peplum, long skirt. Quilting detail on sleeve ends, belt, and peplum. The dress has a relatively high V neckline. The sleeves are both pleated at the top of the cap, and very voluminous. Their short ends have ten quilted bands, and one small un-quilted section at the end. At the centre back of the bodice it is open to the waist, with a hook and eye at the very top of the neckline. At the bottom front, the bodice attaches in two pleats at either side of the centre front of the waistline. A flared peplum extends from the waist with twenty quilted bands. There is also a belt around the waist made up of five quilted bands. It attaches via a belt loop on either side of the waist and attaches to itself with two self fabric covered ball buttons and loops. The peplum closes at centre front with six of the same buttons and loops. The skirt that extends underneath has a centre front closure of three snaps. It has four gores and reaches floor length.

- Dress, c.1925-1929. Red cotton backed silk velvet. Straight draped cut, sleeveless, draped collar, knee length. Bag of scraps with dress on hanger. This dress is handmade, and even includes the leftover scraps. The neckline is a wide scoop in the back with five pin tucks. The shoulders are gathered in the front, and smooth in the back. The front neckline is a V shape, perhaps a lopsided V, depending on how the snap closure that has since come off the right side was positioned. The left side of the V neck has two pleats. There is no shaping at the waist, but the right side of the dress is gathered up to the left at dropped waist level, and fixed with a large rose decoration with a filigree and white jeweled broach. At the right seam, it is also gathered into several pleats, with an extended section that drapes down outside the right seam. The hem angles down to the right slightly. The right and left sides of the dress are left open except for the section gathered under the rose decoration, overlapping on the left side by several inches. The edges are faced with red silk chiffon.
