Description
Part of the 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel. Carousel horse No. 8, "Treasure." "Stargazer" style stretched out jumper. Mouth open, head tossed up, ears back. Colour: Dark bay, with white socks. Trappings: Black toned stippled saddle, bordered with red. Fish on back of cantle. Pale blue and silver saddle fender, shield with wild rose in centre and sapphire jewels. Green leaves forward of shield. Pale blue saddle blanket with white fringe, trillium flower in centre, clear jewels. Pale blue breast collar, diamond and round sapphire jewels in silver breast plate. Red bridle with silver concho.
Object History
Carousel horse. Part of the C.W. Parker Carousel on display at the Burnaby Village Museum. Name: Ms. Gordon felt that because "Burnaby Council made a very wise decision to build a house for the carousel for their Centennial project, now the City of Burnaby has 36 Treasures to enjoy and admire." Sponsor: Elsie T. Gordon.
