As secretary of the development board, he represented the Ismaili community at public hearings, coordinated media and community relations, architect selection, and organized the ground-breaking and opening ceremonies. Farouk Verjee is a past National President of the Ismaili Muslim Community of Canada; past member of the Ismaili Leaders International Forum and ex-officio member of the National Committee of the Aga Khan Foundation Canada. He is currently the president of Chase Realty Corporation.
