- The garland consist of several hundred small pieces of orange fabric in different patterns and shades. They are tied around the base, a thin white rope.
- Object History
- These items were collected as part of the Museum's response to the news of 215 unmarked children's graves found at the Kamloops Residential School in June 2021. These items came from engagement activities the public were invited to take part in for several weeks and consider the impact of the discovery in their own lives.
- This garland was built by members of the public tying an orange piece of fabric to a string. These garlands lined the Cedar Grove in the Village.
- There were a number of other elements to the commemorative display at the Museum. At the Church, there was a display of children's shoes and poetry. Visitors were invited to reflect and write a message to the children, the families or anyone connected to this tragic finding. Visitors were invited to write a message on an orange index card.

- File consists of a red vinyl scrapbook binder with an image from a Girl Guide poster “Girl Guides of Canada” glued to the front cover.This binder was put together by Pixie McGeachie. There are 43 black pages with newspaper clippings, photographs and other paper documents mounted inside. Dates range from 1964 (Golden Jubilee for Burnaby Guides) to the end of 1967. The first page includes a handwritten notecard and envelope from Lady Olave Baden-Powell to the Burnaby Girl Guides. The letter was addressed to Pixie McGeachie and reads : "Hello Burnaby Girls! / I did appreciate / your kind thoughts / for me at the time of / your Golden Jubilee / Congratulations to you all." Four black white photographs contained within album are from the Burnaby Guides Golden Jubilee and are identified as Girl Guide leaders: Mrs. T. Schootman, Mrs. H.L Puppyn, Mrs. V. Hill, Mrs. J.W. Roper, Mrs. J. Park, Miss E. Feritan, Mrs. A.E. Peel, Mrs. Albertson, Mrs. P. Pringle, Mrs. Underhill and Mrs. N.M Jacobsen. Scrapbook also contains an Examiner newspaper clipping titled: "Sea Ranger Kathy Hardy Presented with Gold Cord" with photograph of Sea Ranger Kathy Hardy; dated Oct. 21/64 and a newspaper clipping titled: "Girls Win Music Scholarships" with photograph including Girl Guide Virginia Blake; ca. - Item consists of a head tax certificate issued by the Dominion of Canada - Immigration Branch - Department of the Interior to Dung Way How (Dong Howe). The certificate was first issued on March 18, 1922 and includes certification stamps on the front along with a photograph of Dung Way How. Certification stamps on the verso of the certificate were issued by Chinese Immigration authorities between 1922 and 1934. Information on the front of the certificate reads "...This Certifies That / Dung Way How whose photograph is attached / hereto arrived or landed at Vancouver B.C. / on the 23rd day of January 1922 / ex "Empress of Asia" / and upon representations made has been / admitted as exempt from head tax under the / provisions of the Chinese Immigration Act. / The above mentioned party claims / to be a native of Bark Choon Jong in the District of Pon Yue of the age of 20 years. The declaration in this case is C.I.4. No. 3715 Date at Vancouver on March 18, 1922" signed by "Controller of Chinese Immigration". Printed text on verso of certificate reads "IMPORTANT / IT IS NECESSARY THAT THIS / CERTIFICATE BE CAREFULLY / PRESERVED AS IT IS OF VALUE / AS A MEANS OF IDENTIFICATION".
- History
- Dung Way How (Dong Howe) arrived from Bak Chun (North Village), Guangdong in 1922 as a paper son. He had two sons during his first marriage, but the sons remained in China and one died at a young age. He married his second wife Chow Goon Pang through an arranged marriage. She was married twice previously and had a son from each marriage, but neither of them survived. Chow was from Nam Chun (South Village) and arrived in Canada as a paper daughter around the late 1930s or early 1940s. Both Dong and Chow spoke a Poon Yue dialect. The couple raised one daughter Vivian Dong (Dong Jing Yu) in Canada. The Dong family leased and operated the New Fountain hotel in Vancouver located at Abbott Street and Cordova Street. The family later went on to purchase farmland in Burnaby in 1957. The Dong family moved to Burnaby and operated a three acre market garden located at 6220 14th Avenue until 1972. They grew European staples including celery, radishes, green onions, beets, lettuces, endives, as well as Chinese vegetables such as gai lan (Chinese broccoli). There were two Chinese families in the area, including the Wong family who operated the Wong Chew market gardens 6325 14th Avenue. Dong Howe passed away in 1978. Chow Goon Pang passed away in 2000. Their daughter Vivian grew up in Burnaby and attended Riverside Elementary, McPherson Junior High School and Burnaby South Secondary School.

- Small grocery or shopping cart. The cart was produced by Folding Carrier Corporation of Oklahoma. This cart is called the Nest Baskart which features a levered back panel to easily nest multiple carts together when not in use.
- The body of the cart is formed by metal spokes welded together to form a cage like pattern.
- The top of the cart has a large basket like area for holding items. The bottom of the cart has a sloped shelf that could have held another removable basket.
- The handle of the cart is covered in a hard black material, possibly hardened rubber or plastic.
- The cart features curved corners along the top and bottom of the basket area.

- Cash register, cash drawer, adding machine made by Remington Sperry Rand.
- It has four columns of keys for dollars and cents, three additional columns of digit keys, and three columns of keys with various functions on them. An addition bar and cancel button are across the base, and a paper tape at the top.
- Sales are not displayed visually by any indicator.
- There is a metal cash drawer that has plastic divisions for change and cash.
- There is a key that slots into a lock on the left side that controls the machine with a lever.
