Scope and Content: Photograph portrait of Agnes Smith. Agnes was Flossie Parons' (nee Smith) only sister who died in 1936. Agnes is wearing a white off the shoulder gown, pearl neckace and is holding a floral bouquet.

History: Flossie Maude Parsons (nee Smith) was born to George Henry Smith, a farm labourer, and Harriet Ann Savage on February 13, 1896 in Ealing, England. She immigrated to Canada with some of her family members in the early 1920s. They lived in Winnipeg for a few years as an older brother had settled there in 1912. She married Herbert Russell Parsons on June 23, 1928. They first lived in Vancouver and finally bought a home at 7091 Jubilee Avenue, South Burnaby in the early 1930s. In 1943, Flossie was certified in Home Nursing. Herbert Parsons was active during the Second World War as a volunteer for Civil Defence in Burnaby and worked as a salesman for Woodwards. The couple had no children. Herbert passed away on May 23rd, 1957 (age 84) and Flossie passed away on April 6, 1996 (age 100).

Material Details: An annotation on the back of the photo reads: "Alf with Co-op Car 1931 Model T Ford / This car ran the roads of the lower mainland for two years without a liscence. [sic] Collecting food for hungry Burnaby families. (A Bingham, March 11 1971)."

Scope and Content: Photograph of Alfred "Alf" Bingham standing beside 1931 Model T Ford that was used by the C.G. Co-operative Association in Burnaby. The license plate reads: "101 547 31 / British Columbia." According to an accompanying note prepared by Burnaby Village Museum, both Mr. and Mrs. Bingham were active in the self-help group called "The Army of Common Good" during the Depression, and did a lot of work at one of the depots that was located at 4139 Parker Street. They continued to be active with the C.G. Co-operative Association which was formed when the "Army" dissolved in 1932. Mr. Bingham was employed in mill work.

Scope and Content: Photograph of people on the front steps of the home of Arthur Lobley located on Marlborough Avenue, off Kingsway. Arthur Lobley is sitting in the front, and the rest of the group are standing behind him. They are identified as (left to right) Mrs. A. Lobley (Dolly) in hat, Winnie Patterson, Emma Sully, and Jimmy Fitzpatrick. Beside them, a dog, identified as "old Dan" is sitting and looking towards the group. An annotation on the back of the photo reads: "I will send you some snaps of the wedding if they come out O.K."

History: Arthur Lobley immigrated to Canada in 1892. He married Dora Cooke (identified as Mrs. A. Lobley in photograph), likely in England. Arthur worked for the CPR and the couple lived at 2619 Marlborough Avenue in Burnaby. Along with his brother, Charles, Arthur was an early resident of the Central Park neighbourhood of Burnaby. According to George Green's book, "History of Burnaby," pg. 134, the Lobleys were an early pioneer family in Burnaby. Arthur Lobley is credited for opening the Royal Oak Road to the tram station at Royal Oak in 1897. Dora's aunt, Emma Sully and her husband John Sully were lodgers at the Lobley house on Marlborough Street. Dora's cousin, Winnifred Davis Patterson was also a lodger until her marriage to Carl Anderson in 1940.
