A sign on the building reads "Edmonds General Store Co." and three unidentified people can be seen standing on the steps. In the foreground, the streetcar lines can be seen.

The building on this block housed a store, a doctor's office, and a post office. Visible in this picture are the interurban tracks and Dr. Watson's apartment. The postcard bears a postmark dated October 19, 1911 and a note written by Dr. Watson to a Miss Watson, of Cheshire, England. The note reads: "This is a picture of our block. We occupy the rooms on the left side of the first floor including the end one facing which is one of the windows in my waiting room. The entrance is seen to the right. The photo has been taken from Edmonds Station. Both car lines run into New Westminster, that on the right is the most direct one. The one on the left goes round via East Burnaby and at present its terminus is below our window. Your letter of the 14th [illegible] will answer more fully soon. We are well. So sorry to hear of that terrible motor accident. Yours, G."

This interview was created to gain information for a History 432 paper entitled: "The Lochdale Community: A Study of Depression Times (1929-1939)." Major themes discussed are: the Lochdale Community and the Depression.
- Biographical Notes
- A.W. Dow went to boarding school in Truro, Cornwall, United Kingdom. A.W. Dow came to the Lochdale Community in 1928. He learnt of the Lochdale store being up for sale through his bride-to-be’s brother, bought it, and became the postmaster and Lochdale General Store owner from 1928 until 1937, renaming it Dow's General Store. In 1937, he and his wife left the store at Hastings Street, bought property and built a combination house and store at 599 Sperling Avenue. A.W. served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Rate Payers' Association. As well, he and his wife were charter members of the Lochdale Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF).

- Recording is of an interview with A.W. Dow by history student Larry R. Jensen, November 11, 1974. This interview was created to gain information for a History 432 paper entitled: "The Lochdale Community: A Study of Depression Times (1929-1939)." Major themes discussed are: the Lochdale Community and the Depression.
- Biographical Notes
- A.W. Dow went to boarding school in Truro, Cornwall, United Kingdom. A.W. Dow came to the Lochdale Community in 1928. He learnt of the Lochdale store being up for sale through his bride-to-be’s brother, bought it, and became the postmaster and Lochdale General Store owner from 1928 until 1937, renaming it Dow's General Store. In 1937, he and his wife left the store at Hastings Street, bought property and built a combination house and store at 599 Sperling Avenue. A.W. served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Rate Payers' Association. As well, he and his wife were charter members of the Lochdale Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF).
