- The spoon is metal with a silver finish. At the top of the handle there is a small emblem surrounded by a fillagree design. The emblem has a green background with a gold illustrated bee mascot wearing a crown and holding a torch.

- This spoon was collected by Donald "Don" N. Brown. Don was involved with the Burnaby Historical Society activities and textual records pertaining to his career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. he donated many photographs to the City of Burnaby Archives because of his involvement with various community groups including the Oakalla Lands Citizens' Committee, renovations of Burnaby Village Museum, and the restoration of Interurban Tram no. 1223.

- Part of the 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel. Carousel horse No. 12, "Nareena." "Stargazer" style horse. Stretched out jumper, mouth open, ears back, head tossed up and back. Colour: Fleabitten (“fleabitten” is a term used to describe a horse’s coat that is speckled with tiny groups of darker hairs). Brown roan, white socks. Trappings: Medium dark brown stipple saddle, bordered in darker brown. Green leaves on back of cantle. Indian head and green leaf design on the rear of blue green saddle blanket bordered in silver with amethyst cabochon jewels. Brown toned eagle wing ahead of saddle and coming from the mid-yellow breast collar bordered in silver with amethyst jewels. Wolf pelt hair hanging from breast collar, with silver breast plate centred with amethyst jewel. Brown bridle with amethyst jewel in silver concho.

- Part of the 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel. Carousel horse No. 6, "Scampering Dawn." "American Beauty Rose" style, stretched out jumper. Neck arched, head tucked in, mouth open ears erect and facing back. Colour: Yellow-white. Trappings: Red brown stippled saddle with dark brown trim, yellow saddle skirt. Deep pink roses on back of cantle. Red tint and gold toned drape, sprays of pink wild roses and green leaves ahead of and behind the drape, ruby and emerald jewels as centres of wild roses. Yellow breast collar with bow, all bordered with red with amethyst jewels. Clear jewel in gold bridle concho and breast plate. Wild roses with ruby jewel centres and green leaves on neck.

- Dress with coat. c.1930. Brown china silk. Brown and yellow embroidered flowers. The coat and dress are attached. Long sleeves, sash tie collar, button trim. The 'coat' has a roll collar that falls in a deep V neck, and extends into long sashes that tie at the V point. The armholes have a corded binding. Jacket is actually sleeveless, and the sleeves attach instead to the dress beneath. They are quite loose, with a seam at the elbow. From this point to the wrist, there is a split in each sleeve. The slits are tacked back together at the wrists. A few inches below the sash tie, there is a seam in the jacket at the natural waistline. A belt is tacked to the sides and closes in the centre front with snaps. The centre front of the jacket is left out, and along the inside edge of either side front panel there is a heavy trim of metal self-fabric covered ball buttons from beneath the hips to the hem. At each side and at the centre back, there is a slit in the jacket from the knees to the hem, each trimmed in the same buttons. The dress beneath is made of the same brown silk, with an allover pattern of white and dark brown embroidered flowers. Only the sections that are visible beneath the jacket are made from this material; the covered sections in the bodice are made of ivory silk, and the covered section in the skirt are made of the same material as the jacket. There is no shaping in the dress. The jacket and dress hems both fall to calf length.

- Menu belonged to Hilda Higham Page who was a member of the Burnaby Cougars lacrosse team in the 1930s. The Burnaby Cougars women's lacrosse team was formed in 1930. The Burnay Cougars home field was located in Central Park and practices took place at Kingsway West School, Burnaby. Les Greenwood was the Cougars' first coach followed by Chief Andy Paul and Bill Bayley. Bill Fowler was manager of the team. The Burnaby Cougars won the championship in 1934. In 1937 the Burnaby Cougars re-organized as the New Westminster Cougars and fielded a team in B.C. Senior Women's Lacrosse League.

- Ten, brown-paper-wrapped bottles from "A.S. Watson & Co." Each has commercially made brown-paper label with Chinese characters. Yellow label sealing one end of package has company name and company logo of dragon and horse. Individual bottles were originally packaged together in brown paper and tied with string.

- This item originates from the Chinese Herbalist Store “Way Sang Yuen Wat Kee & Co.”, Victoria B.C. Watsons is a member of the A.S. Watson Group, which started as the Canton Dispensary and Soda Water Establishment, founded in 1828 as a small dispensary, with the mission to provide free medical services to the poor people of the Southern Chinese province of Guangdong (also known as Canton). It moved to Hong Kong and re-emerged as the Hong Kong Dispensary from 1 January 1843. The company began trading under the name A.S. Watson & Company in 1871. Now, the A.S. Watson Group (or A.S. "Jumper" (semi-stargazer), back legs extended, front legs bent, erect neck, head and nose up and out, ears facing back, mouth open. Colour: Light Palomino, white blaze and socks. Trappings: Medium green stippled saddle edged in gold. Fish back of the cantle. Royal purple blanket with four yellow stars, edged in green and gold fringe. Dorothy Wrigley explains "The arrival of our first grandchild was a joyful occasion for the Wrigley family but it was some time before the tiny baby girl received her name, Saralyn. In the meantime, she was referred to with much love as the little Guppy." (Dorothy Wrigley decided to sponsor a horse to commemorate the birth of her grandchild, and fellow-volunteer Cice Brown asked to be a co-sponsor for her grandchildren too.) - Salvation Army Guide uniform dress belonging to Virginia Blake, early 1960s. From the 6th Vancouver Salvation Army Guides on Hastings Street. Salvation Army was affiliated with Girl Guides (1937) of Canada until 1998. Worn with brown leather belt, beret, folded triangular company tie. The three white stripes on the right breast pocket indicate that wearer was a company leader. The more stripes you had, the higher your rank. A single white stripe, sewn down the center of the pocket, would have indicated that she was a patrol seconder. Two stripes would indicate that she was a patrol leader. White adhesive tape was used so that the Guider didn’t have to unstitch and re-sew the stripes as they gained rank.

- Autograph Book - Booklet -- [1915]. Autograph book produced by Rose & Co at 44 Above Bar, Southhampton. The book was a gift to Mrs. Orman from the Teachers and Children of All Saints Sunday School, Eastleigh, Southhampton, upon her departure to Canada. The first four pages lists all the teachers and children's names. The front cover of the book is green with two painted purple flowers and "Autographs" embossed in white on the bottom right.
- Object History
- This accession appears to be connected to the Orman family. Ada Leila Orman was born June 2, 1901 in Eastleigh, Hampshire, England. According to the 1915 Census, the Orman family came to Canada in 1911 and settled in Calgary. Father Willoughby Henry Orman is listed there as working as a C.P.R. foreman, while mother Daisy Marie (Harklett) Orman worked at home. Older sister Daisy Hilda (Targett) Orman, worked as a stenographer. At five years old Leila began a long fight with a crippling type of rheumatoid arthritis. By the time she was thirteen, she experienced completely ankylosed joints. Her family travelled all over hoping to find a cure, but to no avail. While living in Calgary, Leila developed an interest in painting, knitting, and composing her own poems. She began writing news articles for the Calgary Daily Herald in the 1930s, and her first sonnet published was in that paper on August 28, 1934. She had a strong interest in the arts, often writing about music and the visual arts. While living in Calgary, she became a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club as well as a member of the Canadian Author’s Association. Three members of the family moved to B.C. when Willoughby retired, ca. 1938. In the 1940 BC Directory, the family are listed as living at 407 Campbell Street, Burnaby. Willoughby died in Burnaby in 1945. Daisy Marie died in 1955 after living 15 years in Burnaby. Her address at the time of her death is listed as 407 Rosewood Avenue, Burnaby. Leila was living with her at that time. Older sister Daisy Hilda married Edgar Harold Targett in 1922. They moved to B.C. from Alberta some years after the other three members of the family (ca. 1962). Daisy Hilda died in 1972. Her address at the time of her death was 7969 Rosewood Avenue, Burnaby. Leila wrote on a typewriter with two sticks to type out the letters. She was an avid reader and was able to turn the pages with a special stick with elastic bands wound around the ends. Canadian novelist Maida Parlow French became her lifelong friend and encouraged her to write her own autobiography - unfortunately it was never finished. Leila wrote “The Giving Heart” in October of 1948. By 1952, she was writing a column for the British Columbia Saturday Magazine entitled “Across the Board” with the intention of inspiring other “incapacitated folk” to live up to their full potential, “If [she] could reach a few people, and encourage them to reach up and out, [she] should feel the effort well worthwhile.” A member of the St. Alban’s Prayer Healing Fellowship group, Leila wrote the “Christian Manifesto for World Peace” in 1963. The Prayer Group met twice monthly at one of the members’ homes and undertook to pray daily for the sick and for world peace. After Leila’s mother died in 1955, Leila’s friend Jeanie Brown kept house for her and was her constant companion. Jeanie Brown and Leila lived together for over thirteen years until an accident sent Leila to hospital and later to nursing home where she died on February 16, 1976.

- Molded plaster baby sitting up holding glass shelf. The baby is seated on the floor and there is a slot across its chest and its hands are turned palm upwards to hold the glass shelf (11 cm. X 34.5 cm). The body is open at the bottom and the chest slot. The figure has painted brown hair, brown eyes and is wearing a white diaper. There are chips on the right big toe, at the edge of the chest slot, edge of hair on the right side, back of the head and ends of the fingers. No makers mark inside.
- Object History
- Made for Helen's Children's Wear in early 1950's by Nettie Trainer, the mother of the store owner, Helen Arnold (nee Trainer). They were handmade. Nettie Trainer was a well known maker of custom figures for commercial displays. Helen's Children's Wear was located at 4142 Hastings Street. Owner Helen Arnold opened the store on East Hastings Street in 1948. She moved to the 4142 Hastings Street location in 1955, and added a landmark neon sign to the building in 1956. The sign featured a girl on a swing, and served as an important landmark in the neighbourhood. The store closed in 2007.
