- Lard tin of Burns and Co., White Carnation Brand, lard. The container is cylindrical, metal with a lid; It is red with green writing and white accents. The image of a caranation flower is on the side of the tin. It has a wire, bail style, handle. The lid is stuck fast. It has slight rust and the writing is faded
- Object History
- P Burns and Company was a successful western Canada industrial and retail company. Patrick Burns was born in Ontario, and spent his early years driving cattle and ranching in Winnipeg. The expansion of the railway drew him further west and in 1890 he established an abbatoir in Calgary and further expanded into BC in 1895. The P.Burns and Company Butcher Shop still exists today as a heritage site in Port Moody. (From City of Port Moody website; more information available.)
