Description
Lapel pin and card. Pin is round, gold-plated sterling silver. Wide white enamel border has gold "WOMENS WAR WORK" in upper part, "C.R.C.S." at bottom, and thin gold inner and outer borders. Centre of pin is pebbled gold ground with red enamelled cross, gold border. Reverse of pin has locking pin back, and raised lettering "STERLING", 'S' in oval beside it. Back is tarnished, gold-coloured. Front has some soiling and wear.
Object History
Donation on behalf of South Burnaby United Church Women. Likely from their thrift shop.

Caption from metadata: "Dan Pederson takes a closer look at some of the 3,000 pins in his collection, at the Pacific Pin Club's first public show and sale at the Capitol Hill Community Centre. Pederson says he started collecting pins in 1984, at the Los Angeles Olympics and he's travelled to various competitions like the Commonwealth, Pan Am and Canada Games to amass his collection. "I like to trade with the actual athletes," he says. "Every pin has a story." The Pin Club has about 44 members from Vancouver Island to Alberta. It started when collectors, who started accumulating pins during Expo 86, started getting together to compare and trade their finds. The club meets monthly."

The booklet provides information about shipping facilities, distance saved, cost saving of the canal, tolls, traffic routes, and the Navy's use of the canal. The cover of the booklet is light green with a photograph of a ship passing through the calan. The title of the booklet is printed in red. The cover has been stamped by The Panama Canal Exhibit in San Francisco.

Ten (10) lapel pins are attached: 1) Original trefoil pin with red banner, 2) BP pin, 3) World pin, 4) Thank-you badge (silver ring around blue enamel Trefoil with three white enamel swirls), 5) Long Service badges for 20, 50, 55 and 60 years, 6) Division Commissioner (red enamel trefoil) and 7) Silver Commissioner Pin (silver with blue enamel trefoil and ring, beaver at bottom) on cloth Commissioner Lapel Badge

Note from donor: These items belonged to Eleanor Galbraith, a longtime Guider who came to B.C. from New Brunswick. The “Trefoil Guild” ribbon was an official ribbon that could be worn to vertically display Guiding pins and badges. The ribbon is no longer used. 1) Original Trefoil Guild pin with red banner (poss. awarded to Eleanor in New Brunswick), 2) BP pin (100th anniversary of Baden-Powell’s birthday – an earned pin), 3) World pin, 4) Thank-you badge (silver ring around blue enamel Trefoil with three white enamel swirls - poss. a thank-you from New Brunswick), 5) Long Service badges for 20, 50, 55 and 60 years - 50, 55 & 60 years awarded here (55 & 60 were awarded by Pauline Hall herself) – all earned pins) 6) Division Commissioner (red enamel trefoil) – an earned pin & poss. given in New Brunswick (it is older than the pin removed from the white camp hat that was not retained) 7) Silver Commissioner Pin (silver with blue enamel trefoil and ring, beaver at bottom) on cloth Commissioner Lapel Badge (silver ribbon of courage tied into reef knot, text “GIRL GUIDES” and outline in white stitching.) - cloth badge poss. to indicate Provincial Commissioner - this pin and cloth badge were removed from the bottom of the ribbon due to excessive weight.

Description
Toll Bridge Tickets - Tickets. Four connected tickets for crossing the Second Narrows Bridge. The tickets are green with a small drawing of the bridge on them. On the top of each ticket is "00191" The tickets were produced by the Vancouver Harbour Commissioners.
Object History
From Denby Bros. Shoe Store at 163 West Pender in Vancouver. Stafford Ague Denby (1882-1957) started peddling shoe findings in 1918 around Vancouver to repair shops around town from the back of an old Ford. Two of his brothers, William Albert (1873-1947) and Melvin Stanley (1879-1953) joined him in 1919 to form Denby Bros & Co. Ltd Leather and Shoe Findings at 163 West Pender. William Gordon Pope started helping out in the shoe store at the age of 10. He eventually ran the store with his cousin, Pat Denby (son of William A. Denby) starting in the 1950s. The store closed in 1974.
