All of the land on the right side of the road was purchased by William H. Holmes in 1860 (District Lot 1, Group 1, New Westminster District). A car is parked on the side of the road south of the bridge. The shorter ash tree south of the bridge is identified as the famous "Holmes Ash Tree" (also known as the "Moody tree").
