Caption from metadata for 535-2233-1: "Denis Orlov, who just emigrated from Russia a week ago, tries to thumb a ride to Metrotown from the Middlegate area on the second day of the transit strike which has shut down bus and Skytrain service. Orlov says he was on his way to make arrangements to get his phone connected. "I'll just be waiting here, and see what happens," he says, hopefully. Five minutes later, he got a lift from a passing minvan."

Libonati's Gun Shop was owned and operated by Denzil (Dan) Libonati, a long-time Burnaby businessman. Cars in the picture are a 1959 Willy's Jeep (Denzil's) and 1958 Chevrolet (unknown owner).
