Reproduction of a 1921 peanut tube radio; plain box with woodgrain finish; front is black with many dials and knobs; "NORTHERN ELECTRIC COMPANY" plaques;
with two sets of headphones and plug; on headphone set "TRIMM DEPENDABLE" "TRIMM INC. LIBERTYVILLE ILLINOIS U.S.A."; on plug end, "PJ-055B"
Object History
Radio is a replica of the 1921 Northern Electric peanut tube radio built by the donor for exhibit in the dining room of the Love farmhouse. Love family members recall that Jesse Love purchased a peanut tube radio for his youngest daughter Hanna Victoria Love when she was the last child at home (after his wife Martha died in August 1920).

barometer; aneroid barometer secured to a carved wood plaque; barometer has a calibrated dial to indicate air pressure; text on dial reads: "VERY DRY", "FAIR", "CHANGE", "RAIN", and "STORMY"; flat metal loop at top of wood plaque for hanging. Dark stained carved wood decorative scroll with finial; has detached from base plaque.

Around the sheild is a yellow outline that looks to be fire. The Shield Brand Dry Sheathing was manufactured by Lockerby & McCorm-- Limited on Shannon Street, Montreal. The label measures 11cm x 14cm.
