The certificate was issued to Greta Muriel Partriquin for obtaining the qualifications for a Second Class Teacher's Certificate. The certificate is dated July 16th, 1923 and is signed by the Superintendent of Education and also the Minister of Education. There is an impression of the seal stamp for the Education Department of Victoria, British Columbia. In the middle of the stamp is a coat of arms.

- Certificate of Marriage - Certificate -- [1908]. Marriage Certificate for Jón Jónsson of Vancouver BC and Lilja Einarsson of Winnipeg, MB. They were married April 29th 1908 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The certificate has images all round the border in gold and passages from the Bible in red text. The certificate was published by Ernst Kaufmann, Lahr, Baden in New York.
- Object History
- Lilja and Jon moved to British Columbia in 1910. They eventually moved to Burnaby and lived on 464 Northcliffe Crescent in Burnaby with their son Harold. Jon worked at the Vancouver Shipyards as a foreman.

- Third Year Course Household Science Examination - Certificate and Envelope -- [1925]. Third Year Course Household Science Examination Certificate for Nina Christina Atkinson, No. 1396. The examination was held in June 1925. Nina was tested in Composition, Literature, History, Algebra and Arithmetic, Chemistry, Physiology and Hygiene, Dietetics, French Translation, French Grammar, Cookery, Dressmaking and Millinery, and finally Drawing and Design. In red at the top of the certificate is the Coat of Arms for British Columbia and written below is "The Government of the Province of British Columbia. On the reverse side is information on supplement examinations. The certificate measures 18cm x 22cm. The envelope is brown paper addressed to Nina C. Atkinson, at 215-13th Ave., New Westminster, B.C.. The envelope has an orange King George V stamp on the top right corner and "Department of Education/ Victoria, B.C." written on the top left corner. The envelope has a butterfly enclosure and measures 19cm x 27cm.

- Grade Eleven Examination - Certificate and Envelope -- [1925]. Grade Eleven Examination for Junior Matriculation Normal Entrance for Nina Christina Atkinson, No. 1396. The exam was taken in September of 1925. The only subject that Nina wrote on was History. In red at the top of the certificate is the Coat of Arms for the Province of British Columbia. Below the coat of arms is "The Government of the Province of British Columbia". On the reverse side of the certificate is information on supplemental examinations. The certificate measures 18.5cm x 22.5cm. The envelope is brown paper and was addressed to Miss Nina Christina Atkinson, 215 - 13th Ave., New Westminster, B.C.. - International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons - Membership certificate -- [1892?]. Certificate made out to Miss Janet Morton for membership in the International Order of the King's Daughters and Sons. There is a facsimile signature of Edwyna B. Bridgman. The date of enrollment is October 3rd 92. At the top of the certificate is a Maltese cross with H I N in the top three arms. In the lower left side of the card is a seal type logo with the order's name around the outside and "IN HIS NAME FOUNDED 1886 - INC. 1888" inside the seal. The reverse side of the card are Extracts From Constitution. The headquarters were in New York City and annual membership fee was 10 cents. The card measures 14cm x 11.5cm.

- Protection Certificate - Certificate -- [1919]. Protection Certificate for the Repatriation of Arthur Simpson of Nanaimo, BC. Arthur Simpson was a temporary officer ranked Second Lieutenant in the R.A.F. and was being repatriated from the Winchester Camp in September 1919. The certificate states that Simpson was an Engineer, was born in 1896 and was married. The document was signed by Simpson and the Repatriation Camp Officer. The certificate is 21.5cm x 17cm.

- Certificated belonged to Dorothy Pitman who was a Girl Guide in the 1st Burnaby Company. She was known to be involved with guiding from 1919 to 1931. Textual records and photographs of the Pitman family, including one of Dorothy and her sister Gwen, are held by the City of Burnaby Archives. Dorothy and Gwen's parents, Ernest and Jean Pitman, owned McKay Dry Goods and Jubilee Dry Goods.

- Item consists of a head tax certificate issued by the Dominion of Canada - Immigration Branch - Department of the Interior to Dung Way How (Dong Howe). The certificate was first issued on March 18, 1922 and includes certification stamps on the front along with a photograph of Dung Way How. Certification stamps on the verso of the certificate were issued by Chinese Immigration authorities between 1922 and 1934. Information on the front of the certificate reads "...This Certifies That / Dung Way How whose photograph is attached / hereto arrived or landed at Vancouver B.C. / on the 23rd day of January 1922 / ex "Empress of Asia" / and upon representations made has been / admitted as exempt from head tax under the / provisions of the Chinese Immigration Act. / The above mentioned party claims / to be a native of Bark Choon Jong in the District of Pon Yue of the age of 20 years. The declaration in this case is C.I.4. No. 3715 Date at Vancouver on March 18, 1922" signed by "Controller of Chinese Immigration". Printed text on verso of certificate reads "IMPORTANT / IT IS NECESSARY THAT THIS / CERTIFICATE BE CAREFULLY / PRESERVED AS IT IS OF VALUE / AS A MEANS OF IDENTIFICATION".
- History
- Dung Way How (Dong Howe) arrived from Bak Chun (North Village), Guangdong in 1922 as a paper son. He had two sons during his first marriage, but the sons remained in China and one died at a young age. He married his second wife Chow Goon Pang through an arranged marriage. She was married twice previously and had a son from each marriage, but neither of them survived. Chow was from Nam Chun (South Village) and arrived in Canada as a paper daughter around the late 1930s or early 1940s. Both Dong and Chow spoke a Poon Yue dialect. The couple raised one daughter Vivian Dong (Dong Jing Yu) in Canada. The Dong family leased and operated the New Fountain hotel in Vancouver located at Abbott Street and Cordova Street. The family later went on to purchase farmland in Burnaby in 1957. The Dong family moved to Burnaby and operated a three acre market garden located at 6220 14th Avenue until 1972. They grew European staples including celery, radishes, green onions, beets, lettuces, endives, as well as Chinese vegetables such as gai lan (Chinese broccoli). There were two Chinese families in the area, including the Wong family who operated the Wong Chew market gardens 6325 14th Avenue. Dong Howe passed away in 1978. Chow Goon Pang passed away in 2000. Their daughter Vivian grew up in Burnaby and attended Riverside Elementary, McPherson Junior High School and Burnaby South Secondary School.
