- Military helmet, English style, issued during World War II. Issued to local Burnaby Police force. It is painted dark blue and the word "Police" is painted in white on the front. The helmet has webbing and chin strap.

- Description
- Captain fire helmet from the Burnaby Fire Department. The helmet is red with yellow reflective strips around the the base. Also in reflective material is "CAPTAIN" printed in an arch on both sides. At the front of the helmet there is a patch of velcro that holds a reflective patch "B.F.D / E I". At the back of the helmet is "158". The helmet has a plexiglass visor at the front that is hinged to go up and down. Inside the helmet there is a piece of heavy fabric that would drape down the back of the neck. The helmet was made by Bullard and is a Firedome Model FX/FXA and PX/ PXA.
- Object History
- This equipment was used by Mr. Whitehurst during his career with the Burnaby Fire Department beginning in the mid 1970's to his recent retirement. He was Lieutenant, a Captain and an Assistant Fire Chief.

- Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) blue wool service coat, uniform jacket.
- The coat is single breasted with a four brass button closure. The buttons are embossed with the King's crown above an eagle volant affronte the head to the sinister. Below the eagle is "R.C.A.F."
- There are two upper breast pockets with button flaps and box pleats, and two lower pockets with button flaps.
- There is a "CANADA" shoulder flash on each shoulder. Above the left breast pocket is a badge with a single wing attached to an "O". The badge is the Observer badge also worn by Navigators.
- On each cuff there is a rank insignia of a single light blue or white stripe on a black background.
- Object History
- Item belonged to Joseph “Joe” Hardcastle Cumberland Corsbie who served as a Navigator for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) between 1942 and 1945. He went on to be a BC Provincial MLA and later a Burnaby Municipal Council Member along with various other pursuits. See Joseph H.C. Corsbie fonds for full biography.

- Whistle. Metal, World War 1 military, whistle on cord. Cord is attached to whistle's ring by metal clip.
- Object History
- Whistle belonged to Frederick Homer Cassels who was a World War I Veterinary Service Army veteran. Frederick immigrated to Burnaby from England in 1919.
- Frederick Homer Cassels was born June 25th 1870 or 1872 in Paisley, Ontario. He moved to BC in 1914 and settled in Vancouver. Cassels was a veterinary surgeon in the 103rd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War I.
- Prior to that, Cassels worked in Washington State. He married Emily Frances McMullen in England in 1919. They came back to Canada and settled in Burnaby the same year.
- He later worked as a marble worker, sticker and polisher at Continental Marble Works until 1932. The family settled in Burnaby's "Skunk Hollow" area, an area off Boundary Road at 13th Avenue and Clydesdale. Their children attended Schou St. School.
- He passed away July 31 1948.

- Victorian Order of Nurses (V.O.N.) seal is the tabletop stamping type which imprints the words "VICTORIAN ORDER OF NURSES" and "BURNABY BRANCH"; official; stamper is black metal, lever at top; "MADE IN CANADA" at side of base; seal disc is brass; label at front transcribes the words on the seal.
- Object History
- The Victorian Order of Nurses for Canada is a non-profit charitable organization created for the purposes of home care and social services established in 1898 to perpetuate the memory of Victoria the Good. The Burnaby Branch of the Victorian Order of Nurses (VON) was established in 1912 with Miss Colhoun as its first nurse. Florence Hart was born in 1898 in New Westminster, and moved to Burnaby when she was 13. Her family lived in what is now known as Hart House. Both Florence and her husband Harold Godwin were awarded life memberships from the VON (Victorian Order of Nurses) for more than half a century of service. - This fork is altered by a prisoner to make it a weapon. It was confiscated by prison guards at Oakalla prison. The fork is made of metal. The two middle tines have been broken off and black tape has been wrapped around base of handle.

- This is a broken length of hacksaw blade confiscated from a prisoner by the guards at Oakalla prison. One end is rounded and has a mounting hole in it. The blade is snapped in the middle.

- Burnaby Municipal Police issue handcuffs. The cuffs are secured by three links of chain. There is no key.
- Object History
- These handcuffs were used by Constable George Jeffery. George Jeffery served as a Constable on the Burnaby Police Force from 1912 - 1935. His patrolled the large Central Park District by foot, stretching from Boundary to Royal Oak and Marine Drive to Moscrop. Over the coarse of his duties, Constable Jeffery saw the need for recreational activities in the area. He founded the Burnaby Athletic Association which featured a competitive boxing ring and gym. In 1935, when the Burnaby Police became the British Columbia Provincial Police, rather than leave the community he chose to leave the force. George Jeffery than worked at the nearby Oakalla Prison Farm until retiring in 1945.
