Colin is writing from hospital after being wounded while laying communication cable from the Normandy beachhead on June 8, 1944 (two days after D-Day). Colin tells of how he's been convalescing from his wounds in the hospital ward along with other soldiers; how the war may soon be over and of how his friend's wife has offered to visit him.
