The majority of the file consists of records pertaining to Mabel's work as the Censor of Moving Pictures in British Columbia (1928-1931), her work as a writer and newspaper editor and her work as Provincial Representative of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire "I.O.D.E." for the League of Nations Society. Other correspondence includes two letters addressed to Mabel's sons Cedric Hawkshaw in 1972, the other (a photocopy) addressed to Mr. E.D.B.
