She grew up in Fort Battleford; in 1884, her father, Amable St. Germain, was sent by the North West Mounted Police to convince Louis Reil to turn himself in. Mary Deguerre had many photographs of her family and was planning to return to Fort Battleford in July of 1979 to show them to her niece.
