File consists of textual materials dealing with the BC NDP party, in particular the campaign for Joan Sawicki for the Burnaby-Willingdon riding. Included in this file is the contact information for the Burnaby-Willingdon NDP Constituency Association ("Fax - 437-5836 / Phone - 437-5700 / 4561 Kingsway / B'by / V5H 2B3") and three sheets relating to the cost of lawn signs from 1990 to 1991 for the Joan Sawicki campaign. Also included is a map of the federal Burnaby-Douglas riding (ca. 1990). Also included is typed copy of R. A. McMath's Comments on "A Report of Saskatchewan's Socialist Government" which appeared as a paid advertisement in both Vancouver daily papers on election day August 27, 1969. McMath challenges the "Report" which contains excerpts of a speech by Ross Thatcher, Saskatchewan's Liberal Premier, on the CCF and the NDP. Also included is a informational flyer on the BC Parliament Buildings from 1969 (28th Parliament, 3rd Session) and lists the members of Parliament. Also included is a booklet from Simon Fraser University listing the donors, which Hazel Simnett is one of, from July 1, 1989 to June 30, 1990. Also is an envelope in which the following was found: 1990 BC Election Act, three sheets referring to Joan Sawicki's election expenses, Canada Post receipt, report on Joan Sawicki's campaign from 1991, list of Burnaby Willingdon team, notice of nomination meeting in 1990, BC election calendar, 1990 Guide to the Elections Act of British Columbia, faxed letter from John Pollard to campaign managers, six sheets of Appointment of Scrutineer (one blank, rest signed by Hazel Simnett), fax of Provincial General Election Calendar of Events, receipt for nomination paper for Joan Sawicki, receipt for declaration of candidate for Joan Sawicki and two copies of photocopy of signatures on Nomination Paper for Joan Sawicki. Also included is Burnaby-Willingdon NDP Constituency Association Minutes of March 14, 1996 Executive Meeting.

File consists of two envelopes and one dictionary. One envelope is empty and is addressed to: "To Whom it May Concern" and is from: "Hugh M. Fraser High School / 2350 Kingsway / New Westminster, BC". It most likely contained the reference letter from May 12, 1941 written by the principal of Hugh M. Fraser Senior and Junior High Schools. The second envelope is addressed to "Miss Hazel Simnett / 4019 Kingsway / New Westminster, BC" from the Department of Education in Victoria, BC. It contains the reference letter as discussed previously, a University Entrance Examination certificate, a High School Graduation certificate from Burnaby South High School, a Grade Twelve Examination Junior Matriculation certificate and a purple and gold ribbon. The dictionary is a Nelson's "Highroads" English Dictionary. Inside an inscription reads: "Hazel Simnett / 4019 Kingsway / Burnaby / BSHS / Hazel Simnett / Kingsway West School".

Scope and Content
File consists of a scrapbook that was created by Eleanor Galbraith containing newspaper clippings, photographs and memorabilia pertaining to guiding in Burnaby between 1953 and 1967. The scrapbook includes a photograph of the BC Council of Girl Guides at a banquet in West Vancouver community centre, a series of photographs entitled "Practical Weekend for Camper's License / Camp Olave / May 25 - 26, 1963"; a colour program for B.C. Commissioner Training in Kelowna 1965 and group portraits of Girl Guides and leaders ca. 1960. Eleanor Galbraith joined Canadian Girl Guides in 1952 in New Brunswick. She moved to BC and Burnaby Heights in 1954 where she became lieutenant in a local Guide Company. Through the years until 1985 she served as a Guide Captain, District Guider, District Commissioner and finally Division Commissioner of Burnaby Heights Division. She was a founding member of the Burnaby North Trefoil Guild and was awarded her 50 Years of Service award in 2005.

The third page of the scrapbook includes a four page chronology titled "History of Guiding - Burnaby / 1913 - 1960" compiled by Mrs. Dolly Weber, Mrs. J. Heaps, Miss Eileen Periton, Mrs. J. Albertson and D. Fowler. File consists of 18 loose pages of a scrapbook created by Ivy McGeachie (nee Ivy Oldham) who was involved in guiding in Burnaby between 1942 -1948. The front page of the scrapbook is titled “Girl / Guiding” and has a wood-burnt image of a camp fire and a singed photo of a flag pole. The scrapbook contains photographs along with bits and pieces of ephemera. Included in the material is a four page, type-written diary of a Girl Guide camp held at Aldergrove Beach in August of 1963. Many of the photographs document the activities of the 2nd Burnaby Girl Guide Company and include photos of Ivy and Margaret McGeachie in uniform on roller skates; Burnaby District Camp (Aldergrove, BC) / 1948; Hiking; Canadian Girl Guide Golden Jubilee; Open House at St. Alban’s church hall; a hand tinted photo of Ivy McGeachie 1939 and the 2nd Kamloops Folk Dance – Yale Cariboo Musical festival 1951.

File consists of a series of eighty nine slides that were used for a Heritage Village educational presentation titled "The History Guard". The slides are copies of historic images of Burnaby that were accompanied by a narrative sound recording. In the recording, narrator "John Stable" pontificates about his role as the guard for history at Burnaby Village and shares historical information about Burnaby, heritage buildings, the Interurban tram, roads, transporation and how Burnaby transformed over time. Images include views of Heritage Village buildings and exhibits, Ceperley house, the Gilley Brothers logging, the Interurban tram, historic maps, roads, street scenes and the BC Tel building.

File consists of pages from a scrapbook created by May Aitkenhead. Pages include an illustration of a Girl Guide in uniform done in pencil and watercolour along with two pages (double sided) of clippings from newspapers, magazines and a programme. The illustration page includes the name "Mabel McIntyre / Cl. 16" handwritten in pencil at the top of the page along with a sticker of a wreath. The newspaper clippings page is titled "Guide News" and includes selected clippings about the 5th Burnaby Girl Guides, while two other pages include information titled "Patrol Portfolio Chart No. 9 _ Digging"; "The Aims of the Girl Guides" and "Girl Guiding" with photographic images of Mrs. Alan Morkill (Provincial Commissioner for British Columbia); Countess Bessborough (Honourary President of the Canadian Girl Guide Association); His Excellency Rt. Hon. the Earl of Bessborough (Governor General and Commander in Chief of the Dominion of Canada- Chief Scout of Canada) as well as Lady and Lord Baden Powell. The last page is clipped and pasted from a programme and/or poster "Grand Rally / Scouts / and / Guides / April 15th 1935 / Hastings Park / Vancouver BC" and includes a page of the programme.

History
Sarah Parker (nee Love) and William Parker lived in the Jesse Love farmhouse with their children: Albert, Bill and Elsie from 1925. Elsie married John Hughes in 1942 and they had three children; Brent, Anne and John. Sarah Parker sold the Love farmhouse to her daughter Elsie and husband John Hughes in 1966. Elsie and John Hughes had four children; John Jr., Ann, Brent and Merle. They lived in the Love farmhouse with their son Brent until 1971.
