was an important area for harvesting cranberries,
trapping and fishing. First Nations belongings
recovered from private properties along what is
now Royal Oak Avenue south of Kingsway suggest a
settlement may have once existed in this vicinity. In

was relocated to a city-owned warehouse at 6857 Royal Oak Avenue. Many volunteers and
museum staff tackled the difficult, dirty and labour intensive work to dismantle and then
rebuild 1223, affectionally named “Urby.” The restoration consumed a lot more dedication,
